Horror’s voice was tinted with hope as he spoke, “Eat? It’s crab.” Horror held the food in front of him, Dust silently opening his mouth to accept the food. Something brushed in front of his face, tickling his nose. He brushed aside tears Dust never even noticed, his scarred hands familiar on Dust’s face. A comforting purr rumbled through the water, Horror’s hands returning to his cheeks to cup them. Horror.ĭust flinched back in anticipation of his anger, Dream curling closer at his back. Horror's disappointment was one thing, it was expected, but Dream…ĭream was never mad at anybody, to have to face his disappointment, his anger and sadness was terrifying.Ī gentle hand caressed his cheek, larger and rougher than Dream’s.
Dream sighs behind him, carefully peeling a piece of kelp stuck between his ribs free.ĭust felt like crying. Dust sighed, his best attempts to avoid relaxing into the touch failing. One of Dream’s hands traced a path down his spine, tingly heat dancing along his body. Dust curled away from the feeling, the enjoyable ball of warmth and softness that was Dream pulling away slightly. The warm weight settled against his back, hands running gently along his bones and brushing dirt off. It was only a matter of time, and how long Dust could avoid fucking up.Ī warm tail brushed against his, the distinct fluttery feeling of Dream’s fins tickling him. The shiver constantly claimed that they’d never leave him, that they loved him, but they would get fed up eventually. That mix of concern and sadness that bore into his soul, encouraging that quiet voice in the back of his head that said it was only so long before they all left him.
He didn’t want to wake up and face Horror’s disappointed gaze. Not because of the world waiting for him outside the comfy fuzz of sleep, no, he had come to terms with the burden that was life years ago.
